The Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras has announced an exciting lineup of events for next year’s festival.
The 2022 festivities will officially kick off on 18 February at Sydney Town Hall with a raising of the Progress Pride flag, the international symbol of the LGBTIQA+ community.
The iconic Fair Day will be back on 20 February at Victoria Park.
The all-day annual celebration will include themed spaces and fairground fun for all ages.
On 23 February, the Kaftana Pool Party will transform the Ivy Pool into the ultimate retro summer day for an afternoon of extravagant fabulousness.
Enjoy cocktails, special guests, DJs, and live performances.
The Laugh Out Proud comedy night will take over the Enmore Theatre on 25 February, featuring some of the country’s very best queer comedians.
Sissy Ball on 26 February will unite Australia’s boldest ballroom houses to see who shines brightest.
Celebrating self-expression, identity, fluidity, and finesse, Sissy Ball will feature legendary house battles, music, DJs, and phenomenal performing artists.
The Ivy Pool will host the fabulous Paradiso Pool Party on 28 February.
Bigger and brighter than ever, it will include a hot DJ lineup, amazing performances, and two dance spaces.
Queer Art After Hours will return on 2 March at the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
Enjoy groundbreaking contemporary performance art, installations, collection stories, music, and gallery tours inspired by this year’s Mardi Gras theme of United We Shine.
The jewel of the festival season, the 44th Mardi Gras Parade will be held on 5 March as a world-class stadium spectacular at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
The Parade will feature thousands of marchers and hundreds of floats in a COVID-safe setting, along with special guests to be announced.
The festival will wrap up on 6 March with the Laneway recovery party at The Beresford, boasting a fantastic entertainment lineup across three dance floors.
Alongside the awesome program of events, Queer Screen’s 29th Mardi Gras Film Festival will bring the latest and best LGBTIQA+ films to cinemas across Sydney and on-demand Australia wide.
The full film program will be announced on 12 January.
Mardi Gras event tickets go on sale at 12 pm Sydney time this Monday 15 November.
